Since Fantasy has many different meanings, for Dream Snare let us refer to Dictionary.com's definition. In short Fantasy is
defined as being our imagination, especially when comprised of extravagant or even bizarre imagery.
As an artistic class, the collective definition of Fantasy from wikipedia
has been sited, "Fantasy is a genre that uses magic and other supernatural forms as a primary element of plot, theme, and/or
setting. Fantasy is generally distinguished from science fiction and horror by the expectation that it steers clear of technological and
macabre themes, respectively, though there is a great deal of overlap between the three (collectively known as speculative fiction)."
Our Fantasies are creative instances of our imagination, while the genre of Fantasy is characterized by supernatural events.
Our Fantasies are often primal and unchecked perhaps originating from our subconscious minds, much like our dreams. Often times
in our Fantasies clear distinctions of space and time blur at the boundaries. This can make sharing our Fantasies with others
extraordinarily challenging. Even remembering or fully comprehending our Fantasies in their raw state may be untenable. We're
forced to boil down the essence of our Fantasies into a format we can easily characterize, chronicle, and communicate with others.
An author (of Fiction, a story teller in a cooperative role playing game, or even a video game designer) may have a Fantasy as inspiration,
in which they use their imagination as the driving force behind the creative work. This is accomplished by harnassing the raw
Fantasy and distilling it into a creative work that is interpretable by others.
Loosely this tranformation from imagination to a product that others may observe may be analagous to an abstract obect transferring
to a concrete object (see this philosophical description for
further information)
